Day 41 and 42 adventures

Day 42....I seem to have gained a day...should be Day 41
The others are going to make their way home from here. Lawrie and I are going to explore the tablelands a bit before heading to the Savannah Way. It's Lawrie's birthday today and I draped a happy birthday banner over the cruiser bonnet last night before I went to bed....hope last nights storm hasn't blown it away! His presents are wrapped in aluminium foil.....didn't have wrapping paper! Later: Atherton had a car wash where Lawrie was able to give the cruiser and Hihouse a rough pressure wash......best birthday present he could have.
Red tailed black cockatoos flying with sulphur crested cockatoos. We've seen a few sulphur crested on our travels but to see large flocks of both together was amazing. Went to The Crater and Dinner Falls at Mt Hypipamee NP.......Great little walk.
Saw a Wind farm in the mist and had a quick look at Ravenshoe Australia's highest town. We're at Innot hot springs caravan park now. We just paddled in the creek and had to be careful not to burn our feet. Luckily we are next to the pub so we can have dinner out for Lawrie's birthday. Only problem is we may need a brolly to get there! Later: the rain stopped and we had a great country pub dinner and creme caramel with Baileys at the Hihouse cafe
Day 42
I thought we were going to Chilligoe but Lawrie took a short cut up a 4wd track that ended up taking most of the day. Straddled a few wash outs and nearly rearranged some trees. Lovely views and a great lunch spot by a creek I would love to see in full flood!
Nearly back on the main road an engine light came on so to be on the safe side we headed to the Toyota dealer in Mareeba. They're going to do their diagnostic thing tomorrow. Good excuse to come back to Granite Gorge and have a fire and camp oven roast lamb!
